Role and Responsibilities

  • Ability to support the BGCGC mission, vision and youth development philosophy in a manner that resonates with staff, Workforce Development Center members, volunteers and partners through leadership.
  • Provide and ensure the delivery of programs reflecting the Graduate, Fit for Life, Ready to Serve model.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with Center members that are conducive to their growth and development.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with caregivers, community partners, and employers.
  • Provide direction to staff to ensure that all Center goals are met.
  • Ensure that the Center operates to reflect the Youth Program Quality Intervention (YPQI) tool and that groups are rotating, programs are operating, and organization is maintained.
  • Manage the facility in a manner that will ensure a safe and clean environment for membership and staff.
  • When appropriate, document disciplinary actions in accordance with the BGCGC Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain accurate statistical accountability of all Center operations, including payroll, program schedules and the Child and Adult Care Food Program; utilizing MyClubHub software, track membership, daily attendance and Center Activities. 
  • Manage the Center budget.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings assigned by BGCGC and other collaborating agencies.
Supervision
  • Serve as direct supervisor of WFD Program Coordinator and Front Desk Attendant.
  • Provide supervisory guidance and support to the Program Coordinator in supervising part-time staff.
  • Facilitate the hiring and recruiting for all Center positions, and when appropriate, follow the necessary plan of discipline in accordance with the BGCGC Employee handbook.  Conduct weekly Center staff meetings.   Conduct yearly performance appraisals on staff.
  • Document member disciplinary incidents, contact parents/guardians, and follow the necessary plan of discipline.  Act on behalf of the Center as the sole contact for parents and members when handling matters of discipline. 
Leadership
  • Act on behalf of the Center to interpret the Boys & Girls Club mission to the community; establish and maintain a positive public image by leading community networking initiatives.
  • Lead and support staff in a manner that will assure a structured and nurturing Center environment that fosters their growth and development.
  • Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers to ensure coordination of programming and integration of Graduate, Fit for Life, Ready to Serve.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and regular appraisal to program staff and volunteers, ensuring adherence to Center policies.
  • Participate and facilitate leadership discussions when necessary.
Collaboration
  • Provide assistance and leadership to other Workforce Development Centers within the organization and to other teen serving agencies.
  • Maintain and establish community partnerships that support the needs of Center members. 
  • Works with Program Coordinator to establish and maintain Average Daily Attendance goals and develop community partnerships to enhance programming and community awareness.
  • Work closely with BGCGC Administrative staff and volunteers.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Relationships
Internal: Maintain close contact with Center staff and volunteers to provide the best possible program delivery.
External: Foster and maintain close contact with community agencies, partners, employers, and schools to enhance program awareness and participation.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
We maintain a 15:1 member to staff ratio.  Activities are varied and require active engagement during educational and recreational programming, which may include extended periods of walking and standing. Activities will be varied due to working with youth and could require running and extended periods of standing and walking. Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs. Average lift less than 25 lbs. Requires ability to use computer, various standard and specialized software and database systems, keyboard, calculator and typical office machines. Requires travel to other Clubs/Centers and community agencies for meetings and training events.
Environmental Requirements
Inside the average office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment required. Ambient temperature is between 68- and 76-degrees Fahrenheit. May be required to perform duties outside of the office environment, such as in gym space, cafeteria space or outside with exposure to sunlight, dirt, wind and varying temperatures of 35 degrees to 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
Skills/Knowledge Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young people in a positive manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain and lead program staff. Prior experience a plus.
  • Strong time management and project prioritization skills
  • Experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning, and supervising programs based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention certification required.

  • Salary Range: $55,000-70,000 Annually
